Your Invitation to an Evening of Champagne Tasting
Your trip to the
Champagne region would not be complete without the chance to sample some of its
famous product. We are proud of our association with
Comte Audoin de
Dampierre, producer of Champagnes, wines and cognacs supplied to French
embassies and fine restaurants around the world. Out of over 2000 Champagne
producers in the region, we chose Comte Audoin de Dampierre as the preferred
Champagne to offer our guests due to its superior quality, extensive range of
vintage and non vintage options and for shear value for money.
One of
our greatest pleasures is sharing our passion for great Champagne. We would
like to extend to you a personal invitation to attend our regular Champagne
tasting evening at the Manoir de Maffrecourt where you will have the chance to
sample some or all of the superb Comte Audoin de Dampierre Champagnes
throughout the range from the easy drinking Brut Grande Cuvee to three
magnificent vintages.
Come and enjoy an informal and relaxed evening,
meet other guests and drink some of the best Champagne you will ever taste -
guaranteed.
For groups of 6 people or more, we are happy to conduct a
Champagne Tasting here at the Manoir at a time convenient to you. We make no
charge for conducting a tasting evening; we simply divide the cost of the
Champagnes tasted between the numbers of people attending.
Bon
Santé
Comte Audoin de Dampierre
For
more than 700 years the Dampierre family has had associations with the
Champagne region. Count de Dampierre's great grandfather cemented the family
ties with the production of champagne and from 1880 brought to the trade his
savoir-faire and a quest for quality which continues today
By paying
particular attention to quality, Comte Audoin de Dampierre personally oversees
the blending of wines from only Grande Cru and Premier Cru vineyards using a
combination of modern equipment and traditional methods resulting in the
production of some of the best Champagnes in the world.
How Do You
Recognise Good Champagne?
 The
appearance Champagne should please the eye as well as the palate. The
colour can range from a pale yellow, sometimes slightly rose tinted, through to
a rich gold. Whatever the colour, it should be crystal clear.
The
nose: The nose of champagne varies according to the blend and variety
of grapes. The three grapes used are Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, both of which
give the champagne a fruitiness and Chardonnay which gives it a delicate
freshness and subtle aroma.
The taste: It should be fresh and
sparkling with perhaps a hint of fruitiness. Let it rest in your mouth, this
will enable you to savour the full flavour. Your reaction could be like that of
the blind monk who is said to have invented champagne in the 17th century "My
god, I am drinking stars". In the end, let your senses guide you.
